I want to share my story with the 90 day challenge. My husband and I have always tried to tithe, but we were short on money after paying the bills, so we were tipping God. We struggled with this, and felt like it was impossible to change. We made the commitment to tithe first, and trust that God would help us with our expenses, earlier this year, Jan/Feb. As soon as we committed to tithing correctly for just the first month, a new job opportunity opened up for me. I wasn't even looking, but the opportunity was there, totally a God moment. I interviewed for the position, and was offered an even higher level position than the one I applied for, and a 47% increase in salary. This is totally God, and we are so thankful for His blessings! We will continue to be faithful in giving God our full tithe first. He is in charge, he knows best!
We were not excellent tithers before, but we increased our tithing by over 75% of what we did before. I have to be honest and say...
So I'd like to share my tithing experience with you thus far since we are past the 90-day challenge. Saving and managing money has never been easy for our family of 4, soon to be 5. We were not excellent tithers before, but we increased our tithing by over 75% of what we did before. I have to be honest and say if we were to tithe 10%, we would not have a place to live. Of course the ultimate goal is to keep increasing whenever possible, God is so important to me and I would love to one day be able to tithe fully. So since we've started the challenge, I have to say, my paycheck has DECREASED by nearly $1,000 a month. A large amount of money is commission based off of things out of my control. We are given certain "orders" to work on at work and the orders have been non-existent in our company, hence the decrease. Of course my initial reaction every month lately is, “How can I still tithe this amount and even get groceries this month?” But, I believe God is faithful and will take care of us, even in tough financial times like this. So of course I'm going to continue to give this amount until the lights are threatened to go off. The main purpose of this story is because the day after (a Monday) we committed to giving “X” amount again, way more than ever before. The next day we found out we were expecting our 3rd child. Completely and utterly surprised; however, this was something I had prayed and pondered God for over 2 years. He had told me it would happen on His timing, and apparently He heard me complaining. I am never surprised with anything, so He surprised me at a time when I really thought it would NEVER happen. In addition, how ironic I had requested Monday off 3 months earlier and the original plans were cancelled. God's way of knowing I'd need that day off of work to digest, He answered. Also, another blessing was that our 8 year old son was accepted into a charter lottery school after being on their wait list for over 2 years. The chances of somebody moving out of town and him getting in like were crazy. So while money and job security are not there at this moment, I can happily say that we are receiving blessings elsewhere. I never give with the expectation that money would be falling from trees in our faces. I truly give with an open and servant heart. I WANT it to help others and bring them closer to God. I pray our financial situation, under God's timing, will get better or back to normal, so we can continue to give to God and make ends meet. With another one on the way and zero paid maternity leave, I ask for you to pray for us during these difficult times. Pray we don't lose our sight of the great God does and we continue to whole heartedly trust and know that He has got our back.

Chris & Nikki's Story
Our commitment began right before Pastor Craig announced the challenge, literally minutes before. Nikki and I had decided that it was time to be fully faithful in our tithe, and stop doing "the 6-7% most of the time" routine. The following service was perfectly in line with what we were already feeling God leading us to do about our finances, including living on 80% of our income. We know God doesn't fail and His word is true, so we knew we would not be getting a refund from the church and we were excited our church leadership was leaning so heavily on God's Word, not for selfish gain but for loving obedience to God, as a church body. The details of our story are even more amazing because of the evidence of God's Hand in the littlest things. Our blessings continue to come in weekly, but the overall experience since we committed the tithe in our hearts and actions has resulted in these blessings: For the entire prior year, I had been working hard at gaining a FT job in a particular field and nothing had lined up quite right. God was teaching me patience here, but sometimes that's hard to swallow. When this opportunity originally presented in late December, I thought things were finally happening for me. After two months of interviewing and waiting, I was told that I was the guy they wanted, but they're not filling the role at this time. Mid-February heartbreak, and wondering where God was leading us. Enter the tithe challenge and God's Hand clearly at work. • The career opportunity that had closed the week before the tithe challenge, suddenly opened within less than two weeks of our initial decision and follow through in tithing. It was a surprise to us, as well as the company based on some internal changes that occurred. I just needed to nail the final interview. • Around the same time, we discovered the landlord was selling the house we are leasing, but with me working two PT jobs (well paying), the banks would not finance us to buy it. We possibly had to move from the house we really enjoy being in and God had placed us in three and a half years ago. • Two weeks later, I had my final interview in Miami. On the drive down there, a mortgage company pre-qualifies us to buy the house on condition that I win the job and start soon. I had a general idea of the salary range. I nailed the interview with such a spirit of peace, and I basically knew the job was mine! No official word yet though. • The day after the interview, I'm working at one of my PT jobs and driving between accounts. I had been thinking about the salary and the house, probably having to negotiate for a slightly higher salary and began to stress. Then I gave it all to God and prayed this, “God, I know YOU KNOW our needs and our wants. I'm done stressing about the details of salary and the house. You have promised to prosper me and not harm me. You have plans for me, and I'm just giving all of this to you. I refuse to be stressed by any of this because I know YOU have it all under control.” I had let go and let God. • The next day in the mid-morning, I got the verbal offer of employment! Great news to start the day, and was promised to receive the written offer that evening. • At the end of Wednesday night Bible Study with Coach Dungy, I received an email. It was the official offer! I opened the letter and briefly read it. The offer came in at 10.1% MORE than what I had expected. On top of that, there was a bonus structure built in that increased my earning potential even more. So, God didn't just match our 10% tithe, He "one-upped" us with that extra 0.1% base just to show us we can't out give Him, and the extra earning potential was there as well. Many other perks came along this position, and when we have adjusted to them all, we will be able to save over $300 from our monthly budget. Yet another blessing! • We are currently scheduled to close on our house in two weeks. • Nikki's job is a blessing from God that started back in September, and she is beginning to see the fruits of her labor as of the last two months. She is the light of Christ at her office, and God is using her to reach others that have never known God's love before. A couple of them have started attending Grace recently. We have more financial margin now than ever, and it's not just because the job pays well. The job would not have happened without God blessing and prospering us. We tested Him in his promise of bringing the full tithe to His storehouse, and boy has He opened His floodgates for us. He has blessed us in other ways as well, relationships, friends new to Christ, family, stability, etc. I wish I had the opportunity to share the little details with everyone, but know that God has all the details covered, and His Word is true. Test His character and submit to His loving will for your life. He will bless you and be there for you in everything you do.

When we accepted the 90 day challenge on March 1st, I was working a full time job. On April 20th, the company I worked for asked me to resign. I worked for them for twelve years, moving from a classroom teacher to a manager. I ran the childcare center for the company, which is a not for profit company. I was paid through the month of May and also kept my medical insurance. In June, I will no longer have a pay check, but I will be on my husband's insurance. Even with this all going on we are keeping the faith and still tithing the first 10%. I changed car insurance companies because the rates went up and found one $1800 cheaper. Our daughter received another scholarship which will pay for her summer classes in college. My husband has been given a lot of overtime at work. We know God will put me in a job where I can help people again. just like all the children and families I helped for the past twelve years. God always knows what is going to happen before we do and I truly believe He is working it out for me and my family.

On Sunday, I filled out the 90-Day Challenge card with no real plan of how we would increase our giving to God. I shared with my wife about the challenge, when I got home from church (she had to stay home with our daughter). I told her I wasn't sure how we should increase our giving and I said let's just pray about it and see what God tells us. Last night, I did my tithe online like I always do and decided I would just give a little bit more than our normal 10%. Today when I got home, I got a notice from my car insurance with a new rate notice. My car insurance dropped $40 a month. I can't believe how quickly God worked. I am feeling really blessed right now.

I wanted you to know I have taken the tithe challenge just for myself. For so many years God has blessed my wife and me with an incredible income; however, I never really got the concept of giving the first fruits. A real conviction came over me after listening to the guest speaker really put it into black and white. I personally am not looking for riches. I am looking for the greatest change in my life and my family. I want to know for myself I am giving an “Abel” gift and not a “Cain” gift.

We made the commitment to take the 90-day challenge and have experienced so many blessings from God. I received a nice bonus at work and we only have 1 credit card left to pay off. We are taking a trip to Texas in April to see our grandsons (and son and daughter-in-law) and through the grace of God our refund from our tax return will more than cover the expenses of the trip. God is so good! We are now going to continue the challenge past the 90 days!

I will start off by saying that I was reluctant to start tithing and to take FPU because of the cost; however, when Pastor Craig mentioned the 90 Day Challenge, I was convicted to step up. I had always tithed, but never faithfully given my first fruits or 10%. My tithing was not a sacrifice, but merely a tip to God. I took the challenge and what transpired after the first month was not only a change in finances, but more importantly a change of heart! I was saved at an early age and attended Bible college in Florida and received a Master's degree in Theology. I pastored three churches and lead Baptist Collegiate Ministries for a local college. Unfortunately, ministry and life came to a halt when my wife asked for a divorce. For four years, I was discouraged and angry for what had happened. Recently, with the change and release of my heart to God through the simple obedience of tithing, I have come home. I have found a new hunger for Him and His Word and an acceptance of His wonderful grace. This challenge brought me back home and to Him and for that I am eternally grateful!

I took the 90-Day tithe challenge. At the beginning of March, I began to tithe the full 10%. For my business, March has become my best month for the year, even though I was away on a trip for over one week. As of today, April's income has already surpassed March with 8 days left in the month. Thank you Jesus!

The past couple of years have presented financial challenges; medical expenses during my wife's journey with cancer and other family situations. God was, is and always will be faithful. I was challenged. Not that we are not generous or consistent givers, but the Biblical principle of first fruits burned within me. I had to ask myself, "Am I really being as faithful in this area as God desires for me to be?" On Monday, I increased my automated giving. I was determined to be more obedient in this area of my life. Later in the day, I received a call from the college my daughter had attended. She had been faithfully making payments on her school bill and they offered to calculate every dollar interest she had paid from the time of her initial enrollment. Her remaining balance went from $3,650 to $677! God demonstrated His faithfulness yet again and we are so grateful! Grateful and blessed!

I decided to do the challenge because I wanted to commit to doing something I know would never be a bad thing. A lot of self-awareness has been taking place in my life and I wanted to get back to a place of peace I always experienced in the past from tithing. My personal challenge was not only to complete the challenge but to also make sure my tithes were the FIRST thing paid when I was paid on the 15th and 30th. No matter what, I decided this is what I was going to do and I prayed to God to help me to trust He would take care of my daughters and me. In a way, this is truly more than I could have ever imagined or thought, I've been blessed with a new job with - to be exact- a $20,064.00/year annual increase. In addition, it is a step in the direction I have wanted to go in order to utilize the Master's degree I obtained in January. The more I have gotten out of the way and trusted God to lead me, I've been blessed way more than any prayer I could prayed. This challenge has truly changed my life.

I want to start off by saying before the 90-Day Tithe Challenge started, I decided on my own to start tithing 10% of my salary bi-weekly, so it made it all the more easier to ease right into continuing to give GOD what is truly HIS. Before I even knew GFC was doing this challenge, I already had it in my heart. Since then, I've been blessed by a few different unexpected events: - My dad knew we were being financially challenged, so he came over to our house and decided to buy us groceries (mind you, we have a blended family of 5 of us in the household) and fill my car up with gas. - We were behind a month on our house rent payments and our landlord came over to work out a "credit" plan to do yard work and pool work to help us get caught up with our rent. - My 19 year old son who resides with us currently, decided out of the blue to give us $100 towards expenses, while he is working part-time, finishing his college courses and has a car insurance payment. So I would like to let you know how THANKFUL I am. The Lord knows how appreciative I am for the blessings that have come our way. I truly believe tithing makes such a rewarding difference in my life and I will not only do it for 90 days, I will consistently continue!

Richard & Mycesha
On March 8, my wife and I attended the service that ended with Pastor Craig's 90-day Tithe challenge. We had always tithed, but definitely not enough because it seemed the bills never stopped long enough for us to breathe. While we were in church, my wife leaned over and asked me, "Do you want to do this?" I told her "Yes, but you already know we are not going to get a refund because we're going to get a house, right?" She laughed quietly. We began immediately tithing each Friday. On March 20th, we heard the news we had been waiting on for almost 4 years: we were pre-approved to begin shopping for our first home! On March 25th, we had identified our dream home and submitted a contract - which was accepted. After getting our finances together (which was another hurdle) and being technically "homeless" for 4 weeks, we closed on our beautiful home in Lake Magdalene on May 7th. Just 60 days after making the commitment, we were able to accomplish this major achievement we had been attempting for so long! We already knew no one can say no when God says yes, but this was reinforced and this is our testimony. All praises to God!

After the "Treasure" series during this time 2 years ago, my husband and I felt like we needed to increase our tithing to 11%. Shortly after the decision, I received a raise at my job. During the "How to Be Rich" series, Pastor Craig said something that suddenly caught my attention, "We should be tithing the gross, not the net." I was baffled. After the service, I talked with my husband and couldn't understand why when we weren't actually taking in all of that money. I spoke with my brother, who is currently studying to become a pastor, and he explained it to me very clearly. He told me to pray about it. So after praying, I finally understood the need to give the gross and we needed to correct our giving. So the next week we tithed on the gross income. One week later, I received a $5 per hour raise at my job! It never ceases to amaze me how God honors obedience, especially in finances! Thank you for teaching and leading us, even when the message hurts sometimes!

Growing up as a preacher’s kid, I have seen first hand the amazing blessings that come with tithing. My husband on the other hand, did not see eye to eye with me on the subject. We started giving to GFC close to two years ago but it was nothing close to the 10% the Bible states we should be giving. Every week after church, my husband and I would discuss tithing a little more, until finally he agreed to let me take over our finances and rearrange our budget to allow for 10% of our income to go to the church. I was shocked but praised God for his conviction! I began to diligently figure out the best way to rearrange our budget, which ultimately led to putting a lot less in savings each month and cutting back on some of our play money. Not even a week after making the commitment and rearranging our budget, my husband’s boss pulled him aside to let him know he is getting a significant increase AND he will be getting a bonus this year! Just through our commitment to tithe the full 10% God has already begun to bless us financially. God has not only provided all that we need, but has provided above and beyond!

My wife and I relocated to this area just a few months ago and fell in love with Grace Family Church. Pastor Craig began his tithing series just a few weeks after we became members of the church. We were paying for our mortgage back in Dallas and renting here in Tampa so our finances were tight. Although our hearts wanted to give 10% or more we held back until we decided to put God to the test. We began giving 10% and could not believe our bank account actually began to increase instead of decrease based on our financial projections from week to week, and the best news of all was we placed our house on the market and the very next day we had not one full price offer but a second that was over our asking price. We closed on the house today. God is faithful.

But I put the thought to the side and decided to join the challenge. Not because I wanted to test God or anything but because I really wanted to give God what is His.
Jonathan & Rebecka
I remember when Pastor Craig told us about the 90-day tithe challenge he showed us a few videos of couples giving their testimony of the amazing things happening ever since they decided to start tithing. I remember one of the couples saying that they received a check that they were not expecting, and in my mind I was thinking, "There's no way you can receive a check all of a sudden and you weren't expecting it." But I put the thought to the side and decided to join the challenge. Not because I wanted to test God or anything but because I really wanted to give God what is His. To make a very long story short I was not working at the time, only my husband was working and he started tithing even though money was tight. At the end of March, I received a call from the job I had applied for and the same week I received a check in the mail from my previous job. I was in shock. I really couldn't believe it. Since then, almost every week, either my husband or I received checks. The checks weren't big amounts, but exactly what we needed. I thank our Lord Jesus because He is amazing. He has blessed us in so many ways. It has been a learning experience for both of us. And to everybody we have told this testimony. Thank you, Rebecka and Jonathan
I always believed, “What does God care about money? Money is just a made up concept.” After hearing the financial messages at Grace Family Church, I realized it meant more than just giving money.
I always believed, “What does God care about money? Money is just a made up concept.” After hearing the financial messages at Grace Family Church, I realized it meant more than just giving money. For me, the part that really sunk in was the story of Cain and Abel. God blessed Abel because he gave with his heart and did not bless Cain because he gave selfishly. I am a single, 27 year old female with no dependents. I am a waitress with 100% of my income coming from tips. I do not see a paycheck because it all goes to taxes. I make enough to support myself, plus a little more. I started tithing on March 1st. I decided to give not for a financial blessing, but because I wanted God to know that I trust Him. For me, this is intimate. I didn't think anything would change financially, but after seeing week after week I began to laugh in amazement. On average, I make about $700 a week. Week 1: $849 in tips = $84.90 tithing Week 2: $898 in tips = $89.80 tithing Week 3: $1103 in tips = $110.30 tithing Week 4: $757 in tips = $75.70 tithing Week 5: $1355 in tips = $135.50 tithing (I took one day off this week too, which is worth about $150) Week 5 is the most I've ever made in the entire history of my 9 years as a waitress. Don't give because you are looking for a reward. Give because on judgment day you can say, "I did what you said."

Just prior to the series on tithing I had been feeling convicted I was not consistent and had often used my own fuzzy math to calculate what I was to give to God. As the series concluded, I filled out the commitment card and was determined to start that day. I left the Sanctuary and quickly found the tithing kiosk. Unfortunately, it was not working. Somewhere in my mind I decided the next pay check will be a good time to start and went home. The next Monday morning I was stuck in traffic on a bridge. I felt God put on my heart to get out my phone and tithe right then and there on the website. I obeyed, logged on and tithed what I had attempted to give the previous day. That evening on my way home in the very same location, but going the other way, I got a phone call from my daughter’s orthodontist in Alabama. My initial thoughts were they must need more money, even though I had recently paid off the entire account. The lady proceeded to tell me they have been trying to track me down for the last couple months but had bad contact info for me. After 18 months, insurance paid a claim previously denied. The doctor’s office had a check of almost $1,000 they were sending me. That in itself is truly a God thing and every time I share the story I get goose bumps. Then two weeks later, my boss called me in and told me I am being considered for a promotion, along with a substantial raise. This is something that would be a new created position and again, only can be a God thing. However, the most significant blessing I have seen over the last few weeks is for the last 4 years my daughters have not spoken to me since my divorce. I have spent years of one way dialogues hoping one day for a response. Last week my oldest daughter actually responded to one of my emails and although it was small, it was a blessing bringing me to tears every time I think about it. Now, on paydays I wake up grab my phone and truly give God my first fruits just hours after my paycheck is deposited in the middle of the night. I do this with such joy in my heart because I am seeing what God can do in my life when I am obedient to the only thing He asks us to test Him on. I wish I could stand in front of everyone in the church and let them hear my story, it is not about me, it’s just about me being obedient and God blessing. I am so excited about what is in store, things that I cannot even imagine. My commitment will be steadfast and will not waiver. Thank you for helping me understand what God wants to do for me in my life when I simply obey Him.

While my husband and I have been giving, we had not been fully tithing the "first 10". The recent message hit home and we committed to tithing the first 10%. Financially we are doing well and are blessed, but we had been struggling personally. Although my husband's business was increasing, it was not strong and he was not doing what was necessary in order to get his billing under control. That was a continual issue between us. I have been blessed and successful in the role I am in as a recruitment lead. I took this position as a W2 hourly employee and while lucrative, stable and permanent, there were no benefits. We had good medical coverage previously and W2 hourly made sense before, but with the new Affordable Care Act, our coverage went from $600 per month to just under $1300 per month for our family with an out of pocket cost of $12,500 before we could see any benefits. I was angry. The amount of $26,000 per year is not affordable! We have been without insurance for almost a year and the risk is high with an active 10 year old boy. I knew of options such as Medi-share but was not compelled to sign up. I was just angry. I had spoken with my manager in November 2014, asking how I could transition into a full time employee, having been there for 3.5 years. He indicated that this couldn't be done until the following year unless I was willing to take a cut in compensation, which didn't make sense. He did what he could and increased my hourly rate with no issues, which I was thankful. I was angry again, I felt the company was letting me down. I was frustrated with my husband for not stepping up and I began looking for other jobs instead of praying and giving this up to God. I distanced myself from others and also from my church. I was also looking into insurance alternatives, one being Samaritan ministries and felt compelled to sign up. One factor you had to get was your pastor's consent. To be honest, we had stopped coming regularly since December and I was not sure that I could go there and claim in all honesty that I was a "regular" at my church. I finally came around. We were committed to coming back to church not because of the insurance coverage, but because I was trusting God to guide us. At the beginning of a service, I was led to commit to the first 10% and wrote the check willingly and with peace. Previously our giving was around 7-8% but I was compelled to write the check for the 10% at the beginning of the service, with no idea what the message was. I love God and His ways! The next day, my manager called me up to tell me that he was going to put me in for the promotion and the conversion to a full time employee as an exception. We discussed the dollars and they were a bit lower than the current W2 hourly rate but with the benefits as well as the bonuses and commissions, it would somewhat equal. Either way, the peace of mind of having full corporate benefits for my family was a true blessing. I sat down and was working on the new budget, seeing how this would work putting the first line in the budget being “Tithing to my Church.” Other goals were to see if we could pay down a couple of credit cards and keep our savings strong as we had been doing. Somehow the budget not only balanced out, but there was more. I wanted to base this on my salary alone and what my husband could commit to bringing in monthly, not the bonuses /commissions I would be getting. This was a cut of about $1,200 per paycheck for me. I was thinking how is this going to work out? With God's Grace and Him alone, the numbers not only worked out, but with the first 10% still on top, I was able to increase what we put towards paying off the 3 credit cards aggressively, still keep our high level of monthly savings and there is a net sum at the end that is not below zero. Trust me, I had to pour over the numbers a few times and sit back in initial disbelief and then in amazement. I am truly amazed and thankful.

I started working at my current job on January 5, 2015. I am a single mom to a preschooler and was unemployed for several months last year. I had quite a bit of catching up to do with my bills when my first paycheck arrived at the end of January. Yet I was SO thankful for the 90-day tithing challenge because God had been speaking to my heart the week before the sermon series started about how to revise my budget to honor Him first with the money entrusted to me. I started tithing the full 10% of my gross income with the paycheck I received immediately following the message about the 90-day challenge. I signed up for bill pay through my bank for my utilities and credit card bills and started to withdraw cash the day after I receive each pay check to cover my other expenses, food, gas, babysitter, etc., all of which I have been tracking in my budget. Now for the blessings! - Paid off a credit card balance totally (almost $1000 within a month of starting the challenge) - Paid off my car 7 months ahead of schedule on a 48 month loan - Received three checks in the mail totaling over $200 (auto loan, federal and state tax over payments from prior years) - Learned my upcoming rental insurance payment will be reduced by almost 20% - Blessed the young woman who babysat my son while I attended Beautiful this semester - Received a free Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Junior from a co-worker this past week. I had budgeted to purchase this tool kit for my son later this year, once I felt more confident about my own financial situation, but clearly God had other plans! - Yesterday I received confirmation of a job promotion - after less than 5 months of employment - and I truly look forward to increasing my giving to align with my upcoming salary increase. God is SO good and I cannot wait to see how he will continue to be a witness to His blessings and almighty power.

My husband and I have been attending Grace for a few years. Even though we have been Christians long enough to know better, we never really tithed consistently. My husband was married before and we have spent the last 10 years in legal/custody battles with his ex-wife. To say we were drained in every way possible is an understatement. A few months back our attorney recommended we split all of our bank accounts and about a month ago we finally got around to it. At that point I told myself I was going to start tithing at least with my money. I got my next check the same day I had family flying in town to visit us. I debated waiting to tithe until the following check so I would have a little money set aside to spend while they were here but I felt God just asking me to trust Him so I tithed that day. The very next day my boss called me into his office and handed me an envelope and told me to have fun with my family while they were in town. The amount he game me was $25 more than my tithe was. I smiled and knew God was smiling too. When I received my next paycheck, I tithed immediately and right after that I got my Duke Energy bill with a zero balance. When I called them they said because of my good history with them they didn't need such a big deposit so they gave me a credit for 2 months. I was completely blown away! Right before I wrote this e-mail I sent my 3rd tithe and was actually excited to do so. I can't wait to see all of the blessings God has in store for my family and me. I hope sharing this encourages someone else to tithe!
