Why Water Baptism:
If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior at any time and have not been water baptized, then we encourage you to come out and make this public confession of your faith in Christ. Being water baptized is a wonderful expression of commitment and a personal statement of faith. We encourage you to bring your whole family to this celebration who will be given the opportunity to join you on the Courtyard during the baptism.
Who should be baptized?
… those who accepted and welcomed his message were baptized…
Acts 2:41 AB
Water baptism is for those that wish to make a public declaration of their faith. We believe that the appropriate age is 7 and up. If you have any questions, please contact one of our pastors prior to the baptism service at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why should I be baptized?
To follow the example set by Christ :
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Mark 1:9 NIV
Because Christ commanded it:
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20 NLT
It demonstrates that I really am a believer:
…many of the [people] who heard Him believed and were baptized.
Acts 18:8 NIV
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
I John 2:3 NIV
What is the meaning of baptism?
It illustrates Christ’s death, burial and resurrection
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.
Colossians 2:12 NLT
It illustrates new life as a Christian
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
Romans 6:4 NLT
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not “save” you; only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it’s the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-… it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
