Our Pastor’s Heart

I’ve told this story many times because it shows the power of sharing the gospel message. My story as a Christian began because “someone” took the time to tell me about Jesus. That “someone” was an 18 year old girl named Debbie, who is now my wife. Her boldness and passion is what led me to accept Jesus and the calling He put on our lives to reach others. As many of you know, I came from a non-Christian background and that’s why our focus has always been to reach that “someone” (family, friend, co-worker). It is easy to drift from the calling we all have to reach others for Christ.

We are excited about our series, Be Hungry, and our 21 Day Fast to reignite our hearts for the “someone” that needs to know and experience Jesus. We hope you will join us as we seek for the “someones” in our lives, for opportunities to share our faith, and the boldness to invite them to Grace Family Church. During 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer, it’s our hope that you and our church will “Be Hungry” for the lost.

Ways to Fast

Complete Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

Partial Fast

This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, or from sunup to sundown.

Selective Fast

This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

Soul Fast

This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.

Each day we will give you a scripture to read and reflect upon. Each one of these scriptures was chosen to guide you through the next 21 days.

Encouragement

We realize that you will have highs and lows over the next 21 days. Throughout the journal you will find words of encouragement to help you on your journey.

Prayer

For every day of your fast, we’ve highlighted a few items you may want to pray about. We encourage you to use these items as a starting point for your prayer time.

Action

On specific days throughout the 21 Day Fast, you will be called on to take action steps.
